I’m New

What Can I Expect At a Typical Service?

Our services are fairly relaxed and informal. We follow a set order of service each Sunday that includes worship songs, Bible readings, and prayers, after which we read Scripture and hear it explained and applied to our daily lives. We also celebrate communion each week. If you are a seeker or exploring the faith, we do not expect you to partake. Our service begins at 3:30 pm, and is typically finished around 5:00 pm. Afterwards, you are invited to stick around connect with us or have a meet with the pastor. We welcome everyone and anyone to join us our church service (or any other event).

You don’t have to be a believer or a member to worship with us. You don’t have to know the lyrics to the songs or understand the Bible lesson. We welcome all people regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey.

Do You Have Children’s Programs?

We love SojoKids! (That’s what we call Kids Ministry at Sojourn). We provide a kids program for children aged 3 to grade 3. SojoKids starts just before the sermon begins (about 30 minutes after the service starts), so your child can participate in musical worship with your family and the rest of the congregation. They will be escorted back to you by their 2 teachers towards the end of the service.

Kids who join SojoKids will be invited to leave with their group leader just after the sermon ends (before communion). There is a worksheet that is available for the kids to fill out during the service so that they can actively listen to the sermon. Don’t worry if your kids get fussy, we have a room adjacent to the sanctuary from which you can listen to the sermon and your kids can play freely (or make noise). Of course your kids are also welcome to stay with you int he sanctuary during the service.

What Kind of Songs Do You Sing?

We have a mix of contemporary worship songs and classic hymns as well. The lyrics to the songs will be available in a printed bulletin (worship guide), so don’t worry if you don’t know the words.
