– Think of times that you or someone you love went through a severe experience of stress or mental anguish. How did you get through it?
– What was unique about Christ’s mental and spiritual agony in the Garden of Gethsemane? Why did he have to go through this?
-Are you willing to pray the prayer of submission: “Father, not my will but yours be done”? What areas of your life do you need to lay down?
-What might it look like for you to betray Jesus with a kiss?
-Do you identify with Peter’s failure? What difference did it make for Jesus to look at him after he failed?

(“The Meaning of a Meal”)
– Why do you think Luke framed the events of Jesus’ last night on earth in terms of the approach, preparation, and celebration of this Passover Meal (the Lord’s Supper)?
– Would it change anything for you personally or collectively for us as a church if we stopped sharing in the Lord’s Supper?
– Where do you see God’s sovereign hand in the timing of this Passover meal, in the betrayal of Jesus, and in the timing of the crucifixion?
– Where do you see the grace of Christ at work in the table talk that takes place after the meal? Where do the disciples go wrong? Where are they (and we) vulnerable?
– Do you identify with Peter at all? Have you made grand promises to the Lord before only to fail to live up to them? How do Christ’s words assure you? What’s the significance of this happening at the Last Supper?
